A photograph of the pearl shell fishing station at Goode Island [Goods Island/Palilag Island], taken from inland looking out to Normanby Sound and Friday Island. The settlement consists of two white buildings with two traditional thatch wall and roofed houses in the ground between them.

The photograph is captioned: 'View from the back of fishing station. Goode Island. Torres Strait.'

Dr Coppinger records arriving off Somerset and Albany Island in early June and remained in the Torres Strait area for four months. They left on 1 October for Port Darwin, arriving on 20 October 1881.
