Letters from Nevil Maskelyne to Joseph Banks.

Letter dated 17th February 1789 concerning the recommendation of Dr Coombe – Banks’s recommendation is sufficient to gain Nevil Maskelyne’s vote in his favour to fill a vacancy of Physician to the Lying in Hospital on Brownlow Street. Also includes discussion of Miss Herschel’s latest comet and expects there will be more, acknowledges the Herschel telescopes can see more than others.
