Letters from Nevil Maskelyne to Joseph Banks.
Letter dated 17th November 1801 concerning Mr Graeme Spence’s letter on the subject of extraordinary terrestrial refractions and their connection with changes of weather. Maskelyne states it is extensive and curious new data, but theory is futile. He referes to a a paper received from Mr Vince which he will pass on to Joseph Banks on friction on a great scale, by Mr John Southern, Engineer.
