Letter written by Thomas from HMS PRINCE OF WALES, off Ferrol on the northwestern coast of Spain, to his sister Miss Mary Thomas in Southampton. In his letter he states that ‘The Spaniards have it in power of taking a survey of us whenever inclined – I wish they were inclined to pay us a visit….’ He also mentions that the land ‘in many parts resembles the West Indies’.
