Letter written by Thomas from HMS SPARTIATE at Hamoaze in Plymouth, to his sister Miss Mary Thomas in Southampton. In the letter he writes the Brest fleet are said to be at sea and that there was great haste to prepare ships for immediate service, writing ‘One w’d almost imagine, Bonaparte was on his passage to England’. He also mentions having received his commission.
