Uncatalogued: Notebook and journal of a naval officer, circa 1807-1821

Small leatherbound notebook containing a personal journal, lists of necessaries, accounts, etc. of a naval (marine?) officer. The journal covers his service on HMS SPENCER (1800) between October 1808 and January 1809; then on HMS EAGLE (1804) between January 1809 and April 1814, including actions in the Mediterranean and Adriatic. There are references to his marriage in 1816 and taking lodgings in Worthing, Sussex. The financial details include subscriptions to the wardroom mess, general cash expenditure, prize money, debts and credit, and wages of individuals in his service.
