Typescript sheets with a brief history of the Australian Navy, also remarks on marking fall of shot for elevation based on experience gained during battle practice of the British Fleet in 1911-1912. Seamanship and torpedo manuals from 1897-1917 and 'The Jupiter Letters' by A.H. Pollen, published in 1906.

Administrative / biographical background
Holbrook was born at Southsea in 1882 and entered the Navy in 1896. He first went to sea on the battleship HMS RESOLUTION in the Channel Squadron. As a midshipman, he was appointed Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO), after being part of the honour guard at Windsor for the funeral of Queen Victoria. During the First World War he served as a gunnery officer on the cruiser HMS DEVONSHIRE and after promotion became flag officer in the Grand Fleet to Vice-Admirals Jerram, Heath and De Chair. He commanded the cruiser HMS CURLEW in 1922-1924. He was later seconded to the Royal Australian Navy, in command of the cruiser HMAS CANBERRA in 1929-1933 and commodore of the Australian Squadron in 1931-1932. He was ADC to King George V in 1932.
