Uncatalogued: Items relating to HMS ROYAL SOVEREIGN during the Greco-Turkish War

Loose sheets with a handwritten journal kept on the battleship HMS ROYAL SOVEREIGN (1914) in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, between 15 January 1920 and 23 August 1920 (14 pages).

A letter from some of the ‘prisoners’ (Russian refugees?) on the ROYAL SOVEREIGN, thanking their ‘sentries’ for their kindness, dated 18 December 1920.

An additional sheet with lines of verse:
‘To sail for England we’re having a try
To arrive in Pompey by the end of July…’

Postcards with photographic images of Royal Marines and events including the landings at Batoum in May 1920, demolition of guns at Shile or Kelia in June 1920, and bombardment of Mudanya in July 1920. CONTENT WARNING: There are a number of images relating to the Greco-Turkish War which may cause distress.

A printed book entitled ‘Souvenir de Malta’ showing postcard views. Also loose postcards showing locations in Malta, Gibraltar, Turkey and the Black Sea.
