Page 193 (recto): Bergen, Norway.

Page 194 (verso): The ship encounters bad weather and the master John Rolloit is fearful that it is caused by the dissatisfied Norwegian landladies. There is also a black cat on board, and nobody knows how it got there. The ship is wrecked on the Goodwin Sands and the crew are in danger of drowning. Barlow manages to save his journal before getting into one of the small boats.
