A view over the stern of the Torpedo Boat Destroyer HMS Zulu (1909) while at speed

A photographic print of a view of the stern of the TBD HMS Zulu (1909) underway at speed. The photographer was standing to the port side of the 4 inch Quick firing gun, of which part of the barrel can be seen on the left. Below the barrel of the gun on the starboard side is the depth charge rack. In the foreground is one of the 24 inch water light scuttles, open, while to the other two are closed. The stump of the ensign holder can be seen in the centre of the transom.

The photograph is captioned 'Going Home / Feb'y 1915'.

Engineer Lieutenant Herbert Allan Slade had been appointed to HMS Zulu on 7 December 1914.
