Notebook used by Leading Stoker Percy Herbert Mitchley at HMS Fisgard, the training depot for artificer apprentices and stokers at Portsmouth, between March 1908 and June 1908. It contains notes and diagrams on different types of marine engines and boilers, furnaces, evaporators, and auxiliary machinery. There are also sections on materials, coal and liquid fuel, corrosion, heat, lubrication, and courses of water and steam.
