Typescript proposals for a settlement of the Suez Canal dispute formulated by Schonfield and published in 'The Times', 14 August 1956. Signed copy of Schonfield's book 'The Suez Canal in Peace and War 1869-1969'. Typescript captions for lantern slides used in a lecture entitled 'The Suez Story', given at the NMM on 28 September, 1976. A sample of crystal from the dry bed of what was once the Canal of the Pharaohs.
Black/white lantern slides: Wooden box containing 59 slides, as used in the above mentioned lecture at the NMM. Three small card boxes containing 13 slides (negative images) showing the Suez Canal and 16 slides covering the War in the Western Desert, 1941-42.

Schonfield was educated at St Paul's School and King's College in London, then Glasgow University. He became a biblical scholar and religious writer. He was author of several books about the Suez Canal, including 'The Suez Canal in Peace and War 1869-1969' published by Vallentine & Mitchell, London, 1969.
