Sailing instructions, logs and notebooks of Captain Sir Robert Cavendish Spencer (1791-1830), mainly relating to his command of HMS GANYMEDE ex the French HEBE (captured 1809), between 1817 and 1819; and HMS MADAGASCAR (1822), between 1828 and 1830:

Leatherbound volume of sailing instructions, mainly for the Channel and Mediterranean, with an index. It also contains rise of tide tables for the south coast of England; and latitude and longitude for places in the Mediterranan and further afield.

Notebook containing a weather log for the GANYMEDE in the Mediterranean, between 4 July 1818 and 8 October 1818.

Fair copy of the meteorological journal kept by Thomas Collings, clerk on board the GANYMEDE in the Mediterranean, between 11 November 1818 and 29 August 1819.

Atmospherical register or weather book with barometer readings taken on the MADAGASCAR in the Mediterranean, between January 1829 to October 1830.

Notes concerning gunnery and several copies of forms proposed to be used by a port admiral or captain of the guardship in inspecting the exercising of great guns and a warship's state of preparedness for action.

Small volume containing a journal kept by an unknown individual during travels in Europe and Egypt between 2 October 1864 and 19 March 1865.
