Recto: The fleet runs into danger as they approach Chatham because the pilots mistakenly direct the ships into shallow water. Verso: Barlow has a severe illness as a result of his earlier head wound, and convalesces at a cook shop in Whitechapel, where he is put to work.

Page 41 (recto): The fleet sails to Hollesley Bay, Suffolk, and then continues on to Chatham. Due to an error by the pilots the ships run into great danger because the water is very shallow as they approach Chatham.
Page 42 (verso): Barlow becomes very ill from the effects of his head wound, and is sent to the Elephant and Castle tavern in Chatham to recover. Later he lodges at his master's cook shop in Whitechapel and is put to work cleaning, fetching water and drawing beer.
