Page 61 (recto): The ship arrives at Lisbon in stormy weather. Barlow explores the city, which has much trade with Brazil but less than formerly with the East Indies. The inhabitants are Catholics, and the women are kept mainly at home and are veiled from head to foot. There are however many well-dressed courtesans. The buildings are very fine.

Page 62 (verso): Barlow sees the King of Portugal and his nobles at Mass in Belem, and afterwards baiting bulls. His ship is ordered to convoy to Cape Finisterre some merchant ships which are returning to England. They then alter course for Tangier, where they take water and wood on board.
