Recto: The ship encounters a French man-of-war en route from Barcelona to Lisbon, where salt and oil are taken on board. These are exchanged at Madeira for a cargo of wine destined for Brazil. Verso: On 1 May 1663 the ship sets sail for Brasil, and turns south into fairer winds.

Page 73 (recto): When the ship departs Barcelona she encounters both a Turkish man-of-war and later a French man-of-war which fires at her. At Lisbon a cargo of salt and oil is loaded, which is exchanged at Madeira for a cargo of wine bound for Brasil.
Page 74 (verso): On 1 May 1663 the ship sets sail for Brasil, carrying 20 Portugese passengers. Madeira wine is considered a wine which keeps well on long journeys. The weather improves as they go south.
