Page 55 (recto): Alicante, Spain.
Page 56 (verso): The fleet encounters strong winds, thought to be conjured up by local witches and soothsayers. At Algiers the King fires cannon at the fleet and some men are killed. A few Christian slaves swim to the ships and take refuge. Barlow describes Algiers as a big town much given to piracy, with a Muslim population but also many Jewish inhabitants.
