Othnel Mawdesley’s personal account of an unsuccessful attack on a Spanish ship at Vigo and his captivity with other members of the crew of HMS THESEUS in Galicia, 28 December 1807 and 12 June 1808.

Administrative / biographical background
Lieutenant Othnel Mawdesley was born 29 April 1790 the second son of Rev. Thomas Mawdesley and Mary Anne Lawton, died 9 November 1812 as second Lieutenant on HMS MILFORD after being wounded while reconnoitring a strange vessel.
