Illustrated journal kept by Joseph Pape, midshipman, RN, a prisoner of war captured by the French. Contains fine illustrations of contemporary buildings and vessels; the text is of literary interest as it is written in verse. The journal gives insight into social conditions during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. The journal was compiled by Joseph Pape of Dring House, York at the end of the eighteenth century.
