Diary of Stoker Donald McDonald, HMS IPHIGENIA, 1897-1899.
Exercise book containing a handwritten diary by Stoker Donald McDonald on the second class cruiser HMS IPHIGENIA (1891), kept between 19 January 1897 and 2 August 1899. It covers the commissioning of this vessel at Portsmouth and service on the China station at the time of the American-Spanish War in 1898. The front pages have details of places visited, distances travelled and coal consumption during the commission.
