Page 227 (recto): Barlow physically restrains the captain, who turns him off the ship without paying him any wages. Barlow manages as best he can in a place called Acheine, but it is a place with little trade. They are governed by a Queen and their main wealth is the gold which can be found locally, some of which is made into coins.

Page 228 (verso): Barlow compares the local people to Moors. He joins the RECOVERY, bound for Bengal, as a passenger. They reach the Ganges and sail up it towards Hooghly, where Barlow goes to the East India Company's factory. He is found a place as Chief Mate on the Company's ship the KENT.
