Page 209 (recto): The Custom House men at Malaga accept a bribe to take goods ashore without payment of dues. The RONE FACTER loads some mixed cargo and sails to Tangier. On departure from Tangier they are accosted by a ship called the GOLDEN LION.
Page 210 (verso): The GOLDEN LION sends men on board the RONE FACTER but allows the ship to proceed. On arrival in England, Barlow leaves the ship and gets a place as second mate in the West Indiaman GUANNABOE, bound for Jamaica, at a monthly salary of 55 shillings. Before sailing Barlow marries a servantmaid, Mary Symans, in the parish church at Deal. Their wedding dinner at the King's Head in Deal is attended by several captains and merchants.
