Page 233 (recto): Barlow complains about the East India Company's monopoly. The PHENIX had taken a small ship bound for the Island of St. Lawrence (now known as Madagascar) to trade for black slaves and transport them to Barbados and the West Indies. The KENT encounters bad monsoon weather and her main topsail yard is broken.
Page 234 (verso): The KENT stays for a month at Karwar, where cow meat is not available because they are considered sacred. They call at Goa, where Barlow describes the local produce, including rack which they buy. They sail to Mumbai and then Swallow Hole, where they hear news of King Charles II's death. Barlow describes how the BRISTOL sank. He criticises Sir Josiah Child, Governor of the East India Company.
